On offer is a limited number of free wildlife nesting boxes


The types available are Tawny Owl tubes, Barn Owl Chalets, Little Owl Boxes, Bat Boxes and Dormouse Boxes

Tawny Owl Tube


There are four Tawny Owl tubes available for installation at suitable woodland sites


Barn Owl Chalet and Little Owl Boxes


There are two Barn Owl Chalets and two Little Owl boxes available for installation at suitable farm or woodland sites


Bat Boxes


There are six Bat boxes available for installation at suitable woodland sites. The preference is to find three suitable sites where a pair of boxes can be installed. It is important that once installed the Bat boxes are only inspected by a licensed handler.


Dormice Boxes


The three Dormouse boxes have been installed at a small woodland in the Exe valley in April 2011. There are no more free Dormice boxes available. Updates will be posted from time to time on the blog at nesting box news

The free nesting boxes are subject to availability and approval after a site visit at a convenient time. As the nesting boxes are installed details will be updated on this web page regarding allocation. After installation any news regarding the nesting boxes will be posted on the blog periodically.

The conditions regarding the free nesting boxes are:
- the offer is limited to sites in Torridge, Mid and West Devon area.
- prior approval from the landowner must be given.
- installation to occur after a site visit and approval from Wealden Heartwood.
- to provide news updates so the woodland blog can be updated.
- Wealden Heartwood reserves the right to refuse a request for a free nesting box if the site is deemed inappropriate.
